Lake Kariba is the world’s largest artificial lake and reservoir by volume. This breathtaking expanse of shimmering, still water stretches beyond the horizon, offering spectacular views, iconic sunsets, fantastic fishing, and safaris on the shoreline as well as wonderfully relaxing lakeside escapes where you can soak up the sunshine.

What to Wear

As Kariba is warm year-round, we recommend packing light neutral-coloured clothing for the day and long sleeves for the evenings  

What to Expect

Kariba has a warm climate, with daily highs ranging from about 25 degrees Celcius in winter to high 30s in the height of summer. The evenings are cool and pleasant year-round, with a winter low of about 10 degrees Celcius and a summer low of about 25 degrees.

Health and Safety

The Zambezi Valley, including Lake Kariba, is a high-risk malaria area. We recommend all guests travelling to the region consult their doctor regarding malaria prevention and ensure they travel with ample insect repellent. 

What to Do

Kariba Dam

At 128m high, 617m long,13m wide at it's crest, and 24m wide at the base this impressive structure holds back the 185km³ of water from Lake Kariba.

Kariba Heights

At a viewpoint overlooking the endless waters of Kariba, is a little Italian-built Church of Santa Barbara, that is dedicated to the memory of the men who lost their lives during the construction of the wall.

Matusadona National Park

This rugged, striking landscapes of this remote park are the ultimate backdrop for wildlife congregating on the lakes shorelines to feast, drink and wallow.
