Stretching over 14,600 square kilometers, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife reserve and part of the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA). Vast and beautiful, Hwange National Park is home to all of the Big 5, over 100 mammal species, over 450 bird species and all over Zimbabwe’s endangered species. The park is famous for the staggering elephant populations that congregate in super-herds around the parks watering holes in the summer months.

What to Expect

Close to the fringe of the Kalahari desert, Hwange National Park has some of the coldest winters (April to August) in Zimbabwe with hot, humid summer months (September to March).

What to Wear

During the summer months, from September to March, you can expect hot days and warm evenings with the occasional but spectacular afternoon storms. In the winter months, April to August, expect pleasantly warm days with cold nights and early mornings.

Health and Safety

Hwange is a malaria area. We recommend all guests travelling to the region consult their doctor regarding malaria prevention and ensure they travel with ample insect repellent.
